Designer Maria Pinto who designed a number of the First Lady Michelle Obama's outfits well before she got to the White House has closed the doors of her Chicago boutique. Citing tough economic times as the cause, Maria Pinto has filed for bankruptcy in addition to closing her stores doors. Pinto first garnered attention when she outfitted the first lady throughout the presidential campaign. Though Mrs. Obama continues to be one of her loyal clients, her patronage wasn't enough to keep the designer's doors open. We hope Ms. Pinto will bounce back, and maybe start her own ready-to-wear collection. Time will only tell. Good luck Maria.
