Beyoncé Knowles may have to put her fragrance dreams on hold. The pop diva was set to release her own fragrance in the spring (See: Beyoncé to Launch Fragrance in the Spring), which some speculated might be called, Sasha Fierce. According to Women's Wear Daily, teen retailer Abercrombie & Fitch says the pop star infringe on its Fierce fragrance trademark.
However, a representative for Coty, Inc., the company who will distribute Knowles' fragrance confirms that at this time Sasha Fierce nor Fierce are not being used in the naming of Beyoncé's fragrance. (Quite frankly if I were Beyoncé, I would call the fragrance B.)
Knowles filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in September of 2008 for the Sasha Fierce moniker in the fragrance category. Abercrombie & Fitch has asked Knowles to cease and desist after discovering the finding, citing that consumers might be confused if there is a Sasha Fierce fragrance.
By the way, Isn't Abecrombie & Fitch the same company that fired a teen for having a prosthetic arm? Hmmm...Maybe they should be renamed Abercrombie &....You know the rest. We'll see how this plays out. The company has filed an injunction to prevent Beyoncé's use of the Fierce name for a fragrance.
