Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 - May 10, 2010)
The legendary actress/singer Lena Mary Calhoun Horne has passed away. The New York Times reports that Horne passed away in New York. Horne has spent the last several years out of the limelight due to illness. She was one of the first African-American women to integrate Hollywood, starring in several musicals including Thousands Cheer, Broadway Rhythm, Two Girls and a Sailor, Ziegfeld Follies, Words and Music. Horne was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and a host of other relative. Read the full New York Times article here.
