Beauty: Mary J. Blige's My Life Fragrance
Friday, April 30, 2010
Mary's life is the inspiration for her new fragrance.
Mary J. Blige will introduce her new fragrance My Life in a partnership with Carol's Daughter. My Life is named for her classic 1994 album, in my opinion her best to date. The album also remarked the transformation of Blige, who at the time had experienced a number of pains and joys in her life.My Life will launch in a rather nontraditional format (for a fragrance anyway) through HSN on July 31. The fragrance has top notes of gardenia petals, Bartlett pear and white freesia. At the heart is tuberose, blooming jasmine, gold lily and apricot flower, with a drydown of cashmere woods, sesame, praline, and incense. A 1.7 oz. bottle will sale for $46 along with coordinating clutch purse.
Blige joins other popular musical divas who have fragrances including Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Deon, and Beyonce. In addition to loving fragrances, Blige is known to rock her signature big earrings and larger-than-life sunglasses. But will she enter the clothing arena? Maybe.
She partnered with designer Catherine Malandrino to design t-shirts in support of her charity FFAWN. But Blige would rather do denim, creating a line where the average price tag is $300. She's had meetings on the subject but hasn't made a formal decision. In the meantime Blige is prepping for a role as Nina Simone, for which she is studying French. Oui, that should be interesting. The film is set to hit theaters in 2012.
