Donna Karan has always been one of my favorite designers. Because I am the quintessential minimalist, I love her no fuss clothes that are always elegant and oh so chic. Karan opts for jackets and draped jersey tops; sculpted exaggerated shoulders; wrapped and belted waists. And of course her dresses were long, draped, and goddess like. And what Chocolate Fashionista doesn't want to feel like a goddess?
In the wake of the recession, another company has shut it's doors. Jennifer Lopez's Sweetface clothing line will cease production after six years. The high-end contemporary line debuted in 2003 and experienced moderate success. Well a door closes a window opens, Lopez's company insists this is a temporary setback and is looking to relaunch the line at a later date with a new mission. The line will continue to sell internationally.

Michael Jackson was not only a trendsetter in music, he was a trendsetter in fashion. Who can remember with the debut of the Thriller LP came the red leather jacket with zippers, the glitter glove and glitter socks, and the penny loafer. Over the years we have seen him transform in appearance but his music always remained the same--unique, cutting edge, and exciting. With ten solo albums under his belt, Michael Jackson left us with a legacy of music that will continue to bring smiles and light for years to come. Please take a moment of silence for one of the greatest entertainers of all time, Michael Jackson. He passed away today at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Jackson was preparing for a world tour and had hoped to start performing again late this summer. He will be sorely missed. We also say a prayer for the families of Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett.

The ivory hued garment with rhinestone detailing, which flared below the knee was a perfect complement to Barnes' slender frame. Ethiopian designer Amsale Aberra started designing wedding gowns when she needed one for her wedding to film executive Neil Brown more than 25 years ago.
