Rarely am I impressed with celebrities, but I have to say I am in awe of Taraji P. Henson's transformation from Hood Glamor to Red Carpet Royalty. I covered Taraji not long ago, before her Oscar nomination was even announced, and clearly my hindsight was on point. In a town where roles for African-Americans has gone from maids and nannies to superheroes and career women, some starlets simply stand out.
It is refreshing to see that Taraji can go from the smart-mouthed Yvette in Baby Boy to the nurturing Queenie in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It proves she is serious about her craft, and refuses to subject herself to romantic comedies or urban flicks, tapping all facets of her personality. Like Halle Berry, with whom Henson shares a manager, she is propelling herself to star status. Halle, who I consider to be one of the classiest women in Hollywood is providing Henson with guidance and probably fashion tips judging by Taraji's latest fashion choices. Whatever bond the two may share, Henson is clearly working it to her advantage.
With two more projects on the way, Once Fallen with Ed Harris, and Hurricane Season with Forrest Whitaker, I am certain that Taraji star will continue to soar. We look forward to more from you Miss Henson and bravo for jobs well done!
